U.S. 75 Overall Project Map

As part of the ongoing TxDOT project to widen U.S. 75 from the Sam Rayburn Tollway to White Avenue in McKinney, TxDOT has informed the City of the following closures:

TxDOT to Temporarily Close Southbound U.S. 75 Exit Ramp to Virginia Pkwy
Weather permitting, TxDOT will close the southbound U.S. 75 exit ramp to Virginia Pkwy. beginning tonight, July 7, 2014, until sometime in August to construct a portion of the southbound main lanes pavement. Detour signs have been posted directing motorists to instead use the southbound exit ramp to U.S. 380.

This may increase congestion at the intersection of U.S. 75 and U.S. 380. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Exit Ramp to Virginia Pkwy. detour map

TxDOT has Temporarily Closed Rockhill Rd. at the Southbound U.S. 75 Frontage Road
TxDOT has closed Rockhill Rd. at the southbound U.S. 75 frontage road until approximately Monday, 7/21 in order to construct the intersection. Detour signs will be posted directing motorists to an alternate route.

TxDOT to Close Northbound U.S. 75 Frontage Road under Eldorado Pkwy.
TxDOT has closed the northbound U.S. 75 frontage road underneath Eldorado Pkwy. This road is scheduled to reopen in fall 2014.

All northbound frontage road traffic will be rerouted to the new temporary signal at Eldorado Pkwy. near Wendy’s and Ghengis Grill. To continue northbound, drivers will use the newly completed ramp from Eldorado Pkwy. to the frontage road past American National Bank and Discount Tire. U.S. 75 Frontage Road, Eldorado Pkwy. detour map

High traffic volume is expected through this area and can make travel very difficult. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes such as S.H. 5 or Hardin Blvd.

TxDOT Has Changed U.S. 75 Frontage Roads at Park View Ave. and Valley Creek Tr.
TxDOT has made a dramatic change to the U.S. 75 frontage roads at Park View Ave. and Valley Creek Tr. On the southbound side, the frontage road has been shifted to a new overpass over Park View Ave. and Valley Creek Tr. Southbound drivers must keep left after passing North Brook Dr. to stay on the frontage road. The old frontage road going past CubeSmart is now for local traffic only.

On the northbound side, the frontage road has been completely closed between the McKinney Community Center and Cinemark Movies 14. Northbound drivers must merge with main lane traffic after passing Park Central Dr. and can exit back to the frontage road at Cinemark Movies 14.

With these changes, the four traffic signals on Park View Ave. and Valley Creek Tr., where these streets intersect with the frontage roads, have been permanently turned off and replaced with stop signs. Also, Valley Creek Tr. east of U.S. 75 now provides access only to the McKinney Community Center with no other outlet.

Please pay close attention to posted detour signs. This configuration will be in operation for several months while construction continues in this area. In addition, occasional daily closures of Park View Ave. under U.S. 75 make access through this area very difficult. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
TxDOT Has Closed the U.S. 75 Southbound On-Ramp Near Rockhill Rd.
TxDOT has closed the U.S. 75 Southbound on-ramp near Rockhill Rd. to allow construction to continue. It will be replaced by a new on-ramp that will not be open until later this year. In the meantime, drivers should continue south on the frontage road past North Brook Dr. and Country Club Dr. to the next on-ramp located south of Eldorado Pkwy. Southbound drivers are encouraged to pay close attention to new detour signs that have been placed near North Brook Dr. directing traffic to keep left to stay on the frontage road.

F.M. 543 Bridge Over U.S. 75 Closed

TxDOT has closed the F.M. 543 Bridge over U.S. 75 as part of the construction project to widen U.S. 75 from Bloomdale to Telephone Rd. It is not expected to reopen until 2015. The detour route to reach F.M. 543 northbound is to take the Telephone Rd. exit, turn left on Telephone Rd., turn left on the U.S. 75 southbound frontage road and turn right on F.M. 543.
