Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off: McKinney, Texas
The Environmental Education Department sponsors McKinney's Texas Trash-Off every year. This event is the single largest one-day cleanup event in the state. It serves as Texas’ signature event for the Great American Cleanup – the nation's largest community improvement program – held annually from March 1 through May 31.
The 2013 event is scheduled for April 13. Participants must register online by April 11 to be guaranteed a shirt. All participants must submit a liability form. Download forms below.
2012
The
2012 event was held on April 14 and exceeded the number of volunteers from 2011. There were 24 teams with more than 250 volunteers who collected 109 large bags of trash and recyclables. Greg France of Saint Gabriel’s won the award for the most volunteers recruited with three teams. It’s T-Time (Alonzo Tutson’s Team) won the most trash collected, and the City’s Municipal Court Team collected the most recycled material. The Fellowship of Debris Team (Laura Tittle’s Team) won most unusual item for the City of Allen street sign.

2011
The
2011 event was held on May 14, 2011, and had a record number of volunteers! The
Sonntag Trash Busters team from Sonntag Elementary won the team award and most trash collected award.
2010
The
2010 event was held Saturday, May 16, 2010, with a focus on cleaning the waterways throughout the city. We cleaned up 4.64 miles, 153 people volunteered and 109 bags (approximately 2,500 pounds) of trash and recyclables were collected. Special thanks to all the volunteers.
2009
The
2009 event was held Saturday, May 15, 2009, despite the rain. About 78 bags of trash and recyclables were collected and 93 people volunteered.
