Expanded Collection
An expanded collection of over 100,000 eBooks, including 10,000 eAudiobooks, is made possible through a resource sharing program with area libraries.
- In addition to displaying on the cloudLibrary website and cloudLibrary app, items owned by McKinney Public Library are also available in the regular library catalog, where you can directly check them out or place holds.
- Available items from all participating libraries show up when you search or browse the Library’s cloudLibrary website or app.
- Check out items as you normally do. Items check out for two weeks. There is no indication of which library owns the title.
- Unavailable items from other libraries will not show up at all. Checked-out items only show up if owned by McKinney Public Library, and these are available for holds.
- You can only place holds on McKinney Public Library items.
- eAudiobooks are available to McKinney Public Library patrons through cloudLibrary, since other participating libraries own cloudLibrary eAudiobooks. McKinney Public Library isn’t purchasing eAudiobooks through cloudLibrary at this time, but is continuing to build its own eAudiobook collection through RBdigital.
- You may notice titles show in cloudLibrary one day but not the next. This is because content from other libraries will only show up when available.
Guidelines
- You may check out six eBooks at a time.
- eBooks may be checked out for 14 days.
- Early return is available.
- Renewal of materials is available with the latest version of Android, iOS and Web Patron. Renewals are not available in the PC or MAC app. You’ll see a Renew button appear in MyBooks for any title that is available for renewal 3 days from the loan expiration date. The title must not have any holds on it to be able to be renewed. Once a title is renewed, you’ll need to download it again.
- You may have six holds at a time. You can choose (in Settings) whether to be notified by email when a hold is ready. Your hold can be reserved for three days in the Hold Queue.
- Each eBook in the collection has one copy available for checkout (no simultaneous use).
