The City of McKinney bills monthly for water and sewer.
Fees
- A deposit equal to 60 days of service or a minimum of $100, refunded when the account is closed
- $30 service connection fee per meter
- $45 for same-day service - application must be received by 10 a.m.
What to Expect
- E-bill enrollment: When a bill generates, the amount and due date are emailed. A paper statement is mailed to accounts not enrolled in paperless billing
- A welcome email is sent on or before the start date
- Water is turned on between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday - Thursday. Please select your start day with this in mind to avoid change or same-day fees. Ensure that all faucets are closed. If a faucet is open, water will flow a few minutes before it is turned off. You will be notified of open lines and need to reschedule the connection. The City of McKinney is not responsible for damages.
Residential Services |
The City of McKinney bills monthly for water and sewer and, if inside city limits, trash and drainage.
- Request new service
- Transfer your existing active City of McKinney account to a new McKinney address.
- Only an account holder can request to move service.
Fees
- $100 regular deposit - refunded after 1 year of prompt payments or when the account closes
- $30 initiation fee
- $45 same-day service - application must be submitted by 10 a.m.
- $100 high-risk deposit (if applicable)
- $30 transfer fee
Document Requirements
- Renters: A lease is required before service will be established
- Upload lease with your application
- All persons on the lease over 18 must be included as occupants on the application
- Buyers: We reserve the right to require proof of ownership
Same Day Service
- Submit the completed application by 10 a.m. (including lease agreement, if applicable)
- Select the first available business day and then call 972-547-2150 to speak to an agent and pay all required fees.
What to Expect
- A welcome email is sent on or before the start date
- Water is turned on Monday - Thursday, as late as 5 p.m. (9 p.m. for same day requests). Please select your start day with this in mind to avoid change or same-day fees.
- Ensure that all faucets are closed. If a faucet is open, water will flow a few minutes before it is turned off. You will be notified of open lines and will need to reschedule the connection. The City of McKinney is not responsible for damages.
Changes and Fees
Any change must be emailed by 10 a.m. the business day before the original start date. Include the address and reference number from your original confirmation email. Please do not resubmit a request since the original request may already be scheduled.
- No charge for the first change if it is received by the deadline above
- $50 trip fee if the notification is received after the deadline
- $30 service fee for any additional changes
Cancel Service - Commercial and Residential |
- Only an account holder can request cancellation
- Water is turned off as early as 7 a.m. Monday - Thursday
- If outside city limits, trash service needs to be cancelled through your trash provider
What to Expect
- A farewell email sent on or before the stop date
- A final bill generated within 3 weeks, mailed to the forwarding address provided
Changes & Fees
Any changes must be emailed by 10 a.m. the business day before the original stop date. Include the address and reference number from your initial online confirmation email. Please do not resubmit a request as the original request may already be scheduled.
- No charge for the first change if it is received by the deadline stated above
- $50 trip fee to restart / stop service if received after the deadline
- $30 service fee for any additional changes
