McKinney's Town Center Study The Town Center Study is an extension of the City of McKinney’s 2004 Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is a document that was developed using community input and leadership to guide decision making for the city’s future growth and development. The Town Center Study builds on the work of the Comprehensive Plan by focusing on a s ingle sector of McKinney - the Town Center.
The Town Center Study is a planning and design process intended to promote and encourage the revitalization of the older sections of McKinney. The study area is generally bounded by Redbud Trail, U.S. Highway 380, Eldorado Pkwy. and Airport Dr. and contains great neighborhoods and commercial districts that form the core of the City.
On April 22, 2013, the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council voted unanimously to approve:
Ordinance No. 2013-04-044 (a text amendment of certain sections of the City of McKinney’s zoning, subdivision, and sign ordinances for the purpose of adopting and integrating the MTC -- McKinney Town Center form-based zoning district regulations), and
Ordinance No. 2013-04-045 (a map amendment of the City of McKinney’s official zoning map for the purpose of rezoning approximately 262 acres to the MTC form-based zoning district).
