Sunday, November 21, 2021
Like the idea of reading the classics, but need some inspiration? Each month is an informal but informed discussion with a focus on fun. Please check our web calendar for book selections.
Hard Times by Charles Dickens
Coketown is dominated by Thomas Gradgrind, school owner and model of Utilitarian success. Feeding both his pupils and his family with facts, he bans fancy and wonder from young minds. As a consequence, his young daughter Louisa marries the loveless businessman and “bully of humility” Mr. Bounderby, and his son Tom rebels to become embroiled in gambling and robbery.

The McKinney Public Library System's programs and events are free, but space is limited. Free tickets are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Due to high demand:

- Organized groups and businesses must first email email@example.com or call 972-547-7323 about the possibility of special arrangements. The library will cancel reservations that have not been approved under these guidelines. Organized groups and businesses are welcome to attend non-ticketed events without prior approval.
- Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of the program. If you have not checked in by the time the event begins, your ticket may be given to someone on the standby list. At the presenter's discretion, latecomers may not be allowed entrance to the program.
